Liz's Birthday Weekend in Vancouver!

This weekend was Liz's birthday - so the girls hopped in the car and headed for the border... Sadly Helen couldn't attend, however she must join us next time!

We stayed at the Sutton Place Hotel in La Grande Residence, on the Penthouse floor. Sounds extremely glamourous, doesn't it? We were there so of course it was - but the suite was simple, a cute little apartment that even had it's own kitchenette. This is a place that many of the celebrities stay while filming in Vancouver, however there were no sightings on this trip.

After checking in we decided to hit the streets in search of sustenance. We arrived in the city later than expected after a very annoying waylay at the border (apparently there was an APB out on glamour), so we were starving! We swung by The Bread Garden and had a nosh.

Here are some quick glances at our 48 hours in the Great White North:

Arriving at the border.

Our Suite had a separate bedroom with a king size bed.

...and a Kitchenette!

The "living room". It also had a 50-some-inch plasma TV!

Liz is enjoying a Shepherd's Pie at The Bread Garden.

Del and my old building (The Lions) in Vancouver. We used to live on the 31st floor here with two balconies and fantastic views!

Fierce airbrushed nails at a Davie St. nail shop.

Liz enjoys an electric blue concoction of Blue Raspberry Fanta and Vodka! At this point we were just getting started! When all was said and done I personally completed a fifth of Vodka on my own.

Liz and I headed out into the city after midnight. She is seen seated here in front of a church with a mattress (currently in use!) in the doorway. I was taking the picture with my camera phone in one hand and had my 7up bottle filled with Vodka in the other.

Bizarre ad at a bus stop. I really don't know what to say about this craziness.

More Davie St. glamour.

At one point in our drunken tirade on the city Liz and I went into a supermarket. Here Liz demonstrates the best way to handle a cucumber. Here was where we also purchased the 12 pack of Diet Orange Crush which we later doled out to random people in the street. The few market patrons that were there at 2am found our antics marginally entertaining.

This is Andy - he's not wanting to be photographed. He and his friend were sitting outside at a pizza place around 3am just off Robson. Invited to join them, we enjoyed much stimulating (and often obscene) conversation before heading back to the hotel.

Evidence of the aftermath the following morning.

View of my old building at The Lions from La Bretagne, our favorite french crepe place.

While waiting to get into La Bretagne, this badly aging Russian whore walked by, her alligator-like skin caked in garish makeup.

My delicious crepe: Buckwheat crepe with chicken, mushrooms, asparagus and bechamel served au gratin style. Heavenly! Liz and Mary ordered fresh croissants that had been made fresh that morning. It was honestly the best croissant I had ever tasted, even in Paris.
